Xena: Warrior Princess for the week beginning 11/24 is a repeat of the episode "The Furies" <<Syndication's top-rated heroine returns for her third season---and promptly loses her mind. Xena's immortal enemy Ares (Kevin Smith), enlists the aid of the Furies for his latest assault. The three curse-enforcing goddesses declare that the Warrior Princess has committed "a terrible crime. She will be punished by persecution and madness." Just what is the "terrible crime"? Gabrielle investigates and discovers that Xena had failed to avenge the murder of her father. That's certainly news to Xena: she didn't know that her father had been murdered, much less the identity of the killer. Cyrene: Darien Takle. Alecto: Asa Lindh.>> <<Xena battles Ares, the god of war, in an attempt to save her sanity from the curse of the Furies and the life of her mother, Cyrene>> I STILL haven't seen this one yet where I was at the VF Con when it aired…Can't wait to FINALLY see it!!! It was during the closing credits that Lucy did a public service announcement to oppose Domestic Violence. See Lucy's section for more info…
Xena: Warrior Princess for the week beginning 12/1 is a repeat of the episode "Been There, Done That" <<Shades of Bill Murray in "Groundhog Day": Xena, Gabrielle and Joxer (Ted Raimi) get mixed up with two feuding families on a day that repeats itself over and over again. Tybelus: Deverick
Williams. Neron: Joseph Murray. Hermia: Rebakah Davies.>> I LOVED this ep.!!! At the VF Con, Renee said that this is her new favorite episode and I know why!!! It was GREAT and so FUNNY!!! Certainly 1 not to miss again!!!
GREAT behind the scenes pix of the Xena ep. "King of Assassins" can be found at: BCCentral Whoosh! has info on all past and upcoming Xena episodes!!! They are also branching out and including Hercules episodes as well!!!
Hercules: The Legendary Journeys for the week beginning 11/24 is a repeat of the episode "Beanstalks and Bad Eggs" <<The fourth season begins with Our Hero (Kevin Sorbo) climbing a beanstalk on a playful, effects-filled adventure. Herc and his kleptomaniac pal Autolycus (Bruce Campbell) find a nasty giant named Typhoon. The fourth season begins with Our Hero, Typhoon (Glenn Shadix) and the kidnapped damsel Lianna (Kerry Gallagher) in a castle in the clouds. They also find three golden eggs, which hatch into mischievous, munchkinlike Harpies (they're half-bird, half-human) named Fe, Fi and Fofum. But when Harpies mature, they're more than just mischievous, so Herc must find a way to keep them off the beanstalk and away from Earth. He and Autolycus must also instruct Typhoon about love. It turns out that he's not so nasty after all---and he likes Lianna, who has developed a grudging fondness for him.>> I missed this one too where I was at the VF Con and am GLAD for a 2nd chance!!! I CAN'T WAIT to see this!!! Bruce is SO GREAT as Autolycus!!! This is bound to be a GREAT and not to mention FUNNY episode!!!
For some GREAT behind the scenes pix of H:TLJ's "Beanstalks and Bad Eggs" at: BCCentral
Hercules: The Legendary Journeys for the week beginning 12/1 is a repeat of the episode "Hero's Heart" <<Iolaus (Michael Hurst) loses his confidence after he loses his grip and a woman he was trying to save falls to her death. So he decides to get out of the hero business. Then he loses his memory. Fortune: Lori Dungey. Zeno: Barry Spring. Thanatos: Stephen Butterworth.>> I did see this one!!! It was a GREAT episode!!! Thanks to bthorp for letting me know, "I read an article in either the Nov or Dec issue of SciFi Universe. The cover is yellow and is titled Ripley Is Back. Ther is a picture of Sigorney Weaver on the cover. The article is on page 26. It is about how Xena and Hercules are the top two Syndicated TV shows. It only has a few lines. It is not a complete article about just them. There is a good picture of Xena and another picture of Hercules.
I got a letter from my Mania Newsletter saying that they've come out with a "Hercules The Legendary Journeys #3 (Gold Edition). The very first appearance of Xena is here in this special Limited Gold Edition of Hercules The Legendary Journeys #3! Check it out at Mania !!!
Thanks to Beth for posting about a funny Herc and Xena commercial they showed in her area!!! "A week or two ago I posted a message asking whether our local station was really the ones who made up a truly goofy Hercules and Xena commercial that they were running. Apparently so, since all I got in responses was requests to see it. So, onto the web it goes! I have the commercial converted to Quicktime and available at Rate-a-Xena . I've included the transcript again below for those who want to decide whether it's worth the download; the movie file is pretty big at 4.6 megs. Personally, I think it's well worth the time; the ad is a hoot. Have fun! --Beth
The commercial is done to a can-can style song, and a man and woman sing along as "Hercules" and "Xena." They're not even trying to sound like the real thing, they're just providing the voices. While the song is going on, the screen is showing tons of fast-moving, appropriate clips to the words. Things in ((brackets)) are paraphrased by me. The name labels, H and X, are added by me to clarify. But the words themselves appear as subtitles on the bottom of the screen - including the comic-book cussing.
H: I am Hercules. Watch me kick thugs into trees
X: Hi, my name is Xena - I can flip without a tramp-o-lin-a
H: Yeah, but can you push back stones? Or throw guys onto neighbors homes?
X: I can save my friends from death And win a swordfight in one breath
H: I trip bad guys!
X: I jump on the culprits eyes!
H: My creeps are worse!
X: I prepare mine for a hearse!
H: I'm a big hunk!
X: I don't stand for macho junk! ((at this point, the music continues but the singing died somewhere around the word "macho"))
H: Bring it on - +#!@!! ((fight sounds during the music finale, the real Xena's war cry, then some final thumping and brawling during...))
Watch Hercules and Xena Kick medieval butt...Tuesdays from 8-10 pm WB53 WWHO Followed by Ricki Lake ((Some final noises of "Stop it!" followed by "ow!" "ow." from our two 'heroes.'))
Jay Laga'aia is Really GREAT as Draco on X:WP!!! He was in some episodes of The Further Adventures of the Black Stallion. I'm not sure which episodes, but the show is being aired on the Odyssey Channel on every Mon-Fri at 3PM and Saturdays at Noon. He also plays Senior Constable Tommy Travita in the Australian TV show called Water Rats. Thanks to Mona for sending me the URL!!!
I was SO EXCITED to get a letter from him!!! Here's what his 1st letter said: " hi angela. i was having a quiet surf on the net when i came across your page and i must admit that it great reading. my name is jay lagaaia better known to you probably as draco. i live in australia, where i have been filming a police drama called waterrats. it's about the sydney water police. i play senior constable tommy tavita . i drive the police launch around sydney harbour catch crooks and fishing dead bodies out of the harbour. ( just pretending. ) i take a couple of weeks off every now and again to go back to new zealand, ( where i am from,) to film xena. keep up the good work. jay lagaaia."
In the 2nd letter, Jay shares with us some Behind the Scenes info of Xena and Hercules!!! Not only that, Jay has agreed to do an interview with me for Whoosh! He is a GREAT guy and so NICE of him to do this!!! " don't know if you're interested to know that xena has just started filming their big musical episode. yep you heard right. the entire show is sung. over the recent break the crew have been working on another pilot show called amazon high. directed by micheal hurst (herc's trusty sidekick iolas.) speaking of which, kevin sorbo has strained his shoulder so bad that he will have to take at least a month off. so they have been using the young hercules in a couple of episodes and also kevin smith will feature heavily in upcoming shows. i think the funniest thing about both xena and hercules is that i am either related, dated, friend or foe of about every cast and crew member of the these two mighty shows. well better get going lots of villagers to strike fear into. till i scratch the net. catch you on the rebound...jay alias draco."
Thanks to Laine R Lawless for an interesting post about "The Real DRACO: DRACO drew up the first code of laws for the Athenians in 620 B.C.E. Solon repealed many of his laws since they were judged to be too harsh. Death was the penalty for practically everything from petty offenses like idleness and stealing to more serious crimes like sacrilege and murder. Asked why we assigned the death penalty to so many crimes, Draco said: "Small ones deserve that, and I have no higher for the greater crimes." It is from Draco's name that we get the word "Draconian," referring to unusually harsh punishments or laws."
Thanks to Boeotian, Librarian Sidekick for his post: "I remember a story about Draco the Lawgiver I read in an old-fashioned history book. A man was brought before Draco charged with murder. The defendant had quarelled with a man who had subsequently disappeared. No body had been found but the defendant had had opportunity to dispose of the body. Draco found him guilty and sentenced him to death. Just before the man was to be executed, the man who had disappeared showed up. He had taken a journey without telling anyone. The officer in charge of the execution took both men to Draco. Draco then ordered all three men executed. 1. The original defendant was executed because he had been sentenced to death and nothing could change that. 2. The officer in charge of the execution was executed for failing to carry out his orders. 3. The man who had disappeared was executed for causing the deaths of two innocent men."
Check out TV Guide Online 's description of Jay's 1988 movie The Navigator: A MEDIEVAL ODYSSEY!!! Jay plays Jay in the movie. : ) Check out this site on Jay at the Kiwi Lounge !!!
Jeremy Callaghan was GREAT as Palaemon in the X:WP ep."Blind Faith"!!! He is also in the show Water Rats as Kevin Holloway. Check out this site on Jeremy at the Kiwi Lounge !!!
Patrick Smith was GREAT as Dolas in the X:WP ep. "Dreamworker" and Glauce in the ep. "Warrior...Princess", the rich Merchant who was trying to keep the 2 countries apart!! He plays the Postman who comes in the very end of the episode to talk to the mother in the Ray Bradbury ep. "Fee Fi Fo Fum" which also stars LUCY LAWLESS!!! See time in her section below.
Patrick plays Pale Man in the Ray Bradbury ep.#51 "THE LONELY ONE" shown on the Sci-Fi Channel on Dec. 11(2:30PM). <<Several women try to decide whether to walk to a movie since there is a serial killer on the loose in the town. Although her companions are reluctant to go, one of the women insists.>>
Lucy Lawless plays Liddy Barton in the Ray Bradbury ep. #63 "Fee Fie Foe Fum" from 10/28/1992 which also stars Jean Stapleton of All in the Family fame!!! shown on the Sci-Fi Channel on Dec. 18(2:30PM). <<A mother (Stapleton) lives in fear of her free-loading son-in-law who she thinks is after her money and her house. Although her daughter (LUCY) tries to reassure her, the mother's fears are increased after the son-in-law installs a supercharged new garbage disposal in the house where the three of them live.>> Kind of a strange story, but GREAT to see LUCY in an early pre-Xena role!!! In the credits, they list her as Supporting Cast. It also stars X:WP alum Patrick Smith(see section above). He plays the Postman who comes in the very end of the episode to talk to the mother.
Lucy played Sarah McFee in an episode of the TV show Adventures of the Black Stallion called "Riding the Volcano". The Odyssey channel airs the Adventures of the Black Stallion every Mon-Fri at 3PM and Saturdays at Noon. They don't have an episode guide, but sooner or later it is bound to be aired.
Thanks to bthorp for letting me know that "Lucy Lawless will also be in the TV Guide next week due out Nov. 11-17. The article is the 20 sexiest men and women on TV." This is GREAT NEWS!!! But if you missed it, you check out the big picture of Lucy in the sexystar issue, go to TV Guide Online !!! From Sharon(Creation): LUCY LAWLESS LENDS HER VOICE TO OPPOSE DOMESTIC VIOLENCE; AUSTIN, Oct. 3, Ellen Rubenstein Fisher, director of the National Domestic Violence Hotline, announced today that Lucy Lawless has added her voice to the many others speaking out during October, Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Lawless, star of the hit syndicated series "Xena: Warrior Princess," filmed a 30-second public service announcement that aired during the broadcast of the third season premiere of "Xena." In the PSA, Lawless says: "On 'Xena,' our battles are make believe and no one gets hurt. At the end of the day, we take off our costumes and we go home. In real life, domestic violence injures and kills. But you can get help -- and you don't need Xena's superhuman powers. You have a weapon that she doesn't -- the telephone. If you or someone you know needs help, call the National Domestic Violence Hotline, 1-800-799-SAFE. Your call will be answered day or night, in English or Spanish. Xena would want you to call. So do I."
"We appreciate Lucy's generosity in donating her time and talents to help us publicize the Hotline number and services," said Fisher. "Lucy is an incredibly strong role model who inspires women to take positive actions in their lives. We felt that she could deliver our message in a way that would increase public awareness of the Hotline."
"As a celebrity, I've been asked to support many causes," Lawless said. "I feel that my role as Xena can be most effectively used to empower people to take charge of their lives. People need to know that they have choices and that the Hotline is there for them."
"The Hotline is here to help callers plan for their safety and that of their children," said Fisher. "If they need to talk about a violent relationship or their growing fear of a partner, I urge them to call the Hotline or their local domestic violence program. People who care are standing by to answer the phones." The Hotline also assists callers who are family members or friends with concerns about a loved one. The Hotline may be reached by calling 1-800-799-SAFE (7233) or, for the deaf, 1-800-787-3224 (TTY).
Since the opening of the Hotline on Feb. 21, 1996, staff and volunteers have answered 141,760 calls (through Sept. 25, 1997). The staff and volunteers who answer the phones are trained to provide crisis intervention, information and referrals to local programs. The Hotline has the largest database of local domestic violence programs in the nation. The National Domestic Violence Hotline was established under the Violence Against Women Act and is funded by governmental, foundation, corporate and individual support."

Thanks to Sylvia who posted "New Xenaland has got together to bring you a few jpgs from Lucy's interview on Holmes TV1 NZ . If you want to know who we are :-) go to New Xenaland . We thank Jester for scanning the pictures. Enjoy!"
Thanks to Kate for posting the Transcript of interview with Susan Wood and Lucy Lawless on the Holmes show, TV1, Thursday 29/10/97. Holmes is a 1/2 hour show that runs after the news hour and its usual host Paul Holmes does interviews with the newsmakers, as well as human interest stories and a bit of tabloid TV thrown in as well. TV1 is the state owned but commercially run channel, its overseas owned rival TV3 shows Xena:WP (hence the focus on Grease and not on X:WP). The interview with LL was promoted heavily during the news and at the start of the Holmes show they cut to a live feed of Lucy in the TVNZ building making her way to the studio.
Susan Woods: Here is Lucy Lawless she has just been spotted down the hall and she is making her way toward us. Cut to shot of Lucy peering around a corner and she says "I blend in perfectly here to the paint at TVNZ². Lucy was wearing a light blue jacket (which matched the walls exactly), a white shirt and there were no rings on any fingers; They did another promo before the ad break:
SW: Next on the programme yes fresh from a Broadway production of Grease, taking a rest from the grueling production schedule of Xena, Lucy Lawless joins me live in the studio cut to shot of LL as Rizzo singing Greased Lightening. (Ad break)
SW: Well who would American kids most like to have to play at their house? First Chelsea Clinton fair enough, second Tiger Woods, you can understand that third a New Zealander that's right New Zealander Lucy Lawless, she laughs, their fathers probably wouldn't mind either, this is Hunter Wells writing that our producer that of course it is probably from his heart, that is all of course from a recent poll in America's People magazine. Anyhow Lucy Lawless is back home from Broadway from enormous success in Grease. She of course started in the ASB bank ads then she became, and you probably don't want to be reminded of this, Mrs. New Zealand, Xena of course Warrior Princess the American TV show that has propelled her to superstardom and she has even been called an icon of the 1990s by Ms Magazine, she joins me now obviously, as I keep referring off to the left here. How are you?
LL: Hi Susan, great thank you
SW: Welcome home
LL: Thank you
SW: Ok, Grease, you are on the stage, live audience, you have had a thing I read about singing live for a little while
LL: I did I stop-, I sta-started as a teenager singing lessons and I think in a way it kind of shut me down I don't know if it's a good idea for kids to study so hard so young, but it was me driving myself and I think I gave myself a bit of a phobia so um for me the main reason I took Grease was to overcome this block I had about singing in public and it really forced me through that, I ah I had to get up and perform eight shows a week whether we were sick tired it you know just didn¹t matter you, the show must go on
SW: -to sellout audiences I read
LL: Yeah it got, initially initially it sold out there was a very slow period because ah that's traditionally the dead time of the year when everybody goes back to school but ah the houses filled up pretty quickly and stayed full for the whole run so that was just wonderful
SW: And more importantly you enjoyed it
LL: Yeah I, you know what, the truth is, the truth that is I'm glad I did it and I'm really glad it's over too (SW laughs) and the further I get away from it the rosier the whole thing seems to me it was it was really hard work but it I loved the people there you wouldn't believe it but the people on Broadway are um they are totally non bitchy you wouldn't expect that from theatre you know I'm from a not from a theatre background, so um they were really busted my preconceptions about ah people in theatre, it was marvelous
SW: A lovely picture, I was reading about you today your mother painted a picture in my mind a ten year old girl standing on the coffee table with a seashell (LL: yeah) for a microphone you have come aways haven't you?
LL: Yeah my friend Michelle and I used adapt (SW: laugh) plays from kids stories. I think I was ten when I first discovered oh I really I like that, that performance um in um it was a school performance of a parable the prodigal son at my primary (laugh) school and I played yet another bad girl the one who rips off the prodigal son off and I remember the moment I remember what I was wearing where I was standing in my room when I thought wow I really like this performing thing it wasn't as scary as I thought.
SW: Is Xena a bad girl? She is sort of a bad good girl isn't she?
LL: She's trying very hard to be good but I think that is part of her appeal is that we can all relate to the flawed hero and ah she's not the man in the white hat and you don't know quite which way she is going to jump so um and the other thing is that this show is absolutely this show is absolutely not to be shak-taken seriously so um I love it I wouldn't give up my day job for anything (laugh)
SW: Even if it does mean crawling through tunnels with rats dropped down on your head
SW: That's extraordinary
LL:-rats eels, flaming branches you know (laughs) everything gets thrown at you
SW: It was just the rats that got me I have got to say. You are in the 50 most beautiful people in the world list. You are as I said one of the (LL laughs) - don't laugh- why do you laugh, is it, are you it is vaguely embarrassing
LL: Umm you know it's not, but it has all the aspects of fame, and you will know this, have nothing to do with who you really are in your real life and you are certainly not famous in your own living room and kitchen and um it's just the spectacl- it's just the kind of, the abstract concept that you could be um considered one of the most beautiful people- or famous or just celebrity is um not something you experience in your daily life generally and when I go to work I'm just Lucy and um when I go home I'm just Mum
SW: This is an extraordinary thing though, you are you know you are an Auckland girl, as I am, as a lot of people watching you tonight are and you are world famous on a huge international stage with thousand of young actresses doing anything to get there and there you are.
LL: Yeah I can't I can't believe it I can't believe it myself, but it's terrific what would you rather be? Sort of anonymous, penniless-
SW: - absolutely not
LL:- and without a job. I tried that and this is still more pleasant.
SW: Got to ask you, Donald Trump (LL: Yeah) what did he really say to you?
LL: (sighs humf ) I was staying at his hotel and he rang up just to ask if everybody was treating me well and ah and simply asked out, asked me out for a drink and he was perfectly civil and um I know people would love me to dish some bit of dirt on him but I just have none to offer
SW: interesting man, charming man?
LL: (pause) ah charming maybe not interesting (both laugh)
SW: What does that mean?
LL: Ahhh hm well what does that mean, well he was very generous with his information about how much he paid for buildings and things but um ah I guess I don't belong to that world you know (laugh)
SW: You are not motivated by money at all are you?
LL: Umm no I mean I try not to be naive about it, I know the value of money, I know the value of um fame, of celebrity and its commercial and it tells you that your show is doing well and you have to service it in some measure but um money shouldn't be your primary decision making ah tool or a you know it shouldn't be what drives you.
SW: The cost to your private life, your daughter Daisy there is a cost there is a cost for all women who chose to work. Do you feel that heavily that cost, the guilt I mean?
LL: I have done, it took me a long time to get used to working um there is a cost for everybody in your family because um very often you will be built up in the press and every now and again they will dress you down you know they keep you ebbing and flowing in popularity, it gives them more pages to fill or whatever but um that can impact on people that you care about, I try not to take it too seriously and indeed try not to even read it because they are very liberal with quotations marks you know and on the occasions that I have read these things it's been embarrassing it can be embarrassing the quotes that they will attribute to you and you know you never said them and they will cobble stories together from interviews you might have done and kind of fill in the blanks on their own, that's my feeling but um again it is not to be taken seriously because, after all, magazines or even magazine style television shows no body remembers what anybody said they just remember the pictures perhaps and the overall feeling of celebrity so um I and I encourage my family not to, if they must read it, not to take it too seriously
SW: Finally, a happy note wedding bells
SW: When? can you have you set a date?
LL: We are trying to set a date for ah early next year
SW: Daisy's happy, you're happy?
LL: She's very happy, I'm very happy
SW: Life is looking good
LL: Life's marvellous
SW: Welcome home and thanks very much for coming in.
LL: A pleasure and thanks for having me
SW: It has been wonderful. (to camera) Well we dumped the Spice Girls, we were going to promo the Spice girls (to LL) but I think you are better than the Spice girls personally, there you go (to camera) Paul is back in the chair tomorrow I see you at Breakfast at 7 tomorrow. That's Holmes tonight.

He did not suffer a stroke as some publications have reported. I've also heard they are blaming steroids and that is not true because Kevin does not use them. Kevin is almost back to his old self. I've been told he looks good. If you would like to send cards, flowers, etc. Kevin has requested that you send them to his manager Beverlee Dean at her office, 8924 Clifton Way, Suite 103, Beverly Hills, California 90211
>From a Oct 26 post, Michael Martinez lets us know that there "More Info On Kevin's Decision to leave "Black Dog" found at ASK MARILYN column in E! Online."
Thanks to Olympiana for her Nov 4 Update on Kevin! "I know everyone has been very concerned about Kevin. Kevin's manager, Beverlee, asked me to forward this message: As everyone knows Kevin has been working very hard these past years and he ended up with a blood clot. With little rest he went to Atlanta to film "Black Dog" and it was too soon for him. Kevin is resting before he starts filming Hercules again. The doctor has assured him he'll be fine. He's leaving around the 15th for New Zealand. He has one week off there before he jumps back into Hercules. Kevin is very excited to get back to the Hercules set. He feels at home and knows without Hercules he would not have had the great success in his career and we would not have gotten to know him. Kevin is very grateful to everyone for his birthday gifts and get well wishes. It would take him forever to thank everyone. Getting ready for Hercules is Kevin's number one priority and that is what he is concentrating on right now."
Jay Laga'aia (Draco) mentioned Kevin in a letter to me: "Kevin sorbo has strained his shoulder so bad that he will have to take at least a month off. so they have been using the young hercules in a couple of episodes and also kevin smith will feature heavily in upcoming shows."

Thanks to NEWSCAT for posting on Nov. 10: "From this coming weekend's USA Weekend: Question: Renee O'Connor is terrific as sidekick Gabrielle on the popular syndicated series Xena: Warrior Princess. Are she and star Lucy Lawless friends in real life? Does she do her own stunts? -- Robin Goodman, Des Plaines, Ill. Answer: You bet she does. To stay in shape for rigorous fight scenes, the 26-year-old Texan jogs, rock-climbs and takes kickboxing lessons. Kickboxing helps her control her kicks. "I wanted to keep from hitting the stunt men in the wrong places. One to many mistakes and they lose their sense of humor," O'Connor jokes. Her costumes have been redesigned to enhance the action. "It's hilarious," she tells us. "They Velcroed my skirt to my underwear so I don't have to worry about my skirt flying up." She and Lawless are close. "We are with each other 12 hours out of the day...We gossip all week." Cute photo of Renee looking up at camera, staff in hand. Cutline reads: Xena's O'Connor, ready for action"

Thanks to Ronny for his Oct. 24 post!!! "I want to let you know, that the german xena fanclub got an exclusive interview with the one and only bruce campbell and now want to share it with all of you. Here we go, enjoy!"
1. Bruce - we all think your portrayal of Autolycus, the king of thieves, is one of the highlights of the show. In fact, some of us have voted "The Royal Couple of Thieves" Best Ep of Season One. How did you get this job?
Well, I have known Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi for a hundred years - when the role came up, Rob thought I would be good for the role...
2. What are in your opinion the reasons for X:WP's phenomenal success?
It's not like any lame-ass cop show or some other generic tv show - when you're channel surfing, it stands out among the other shows - same as Herc.
3. As Autolycus you are a regular guest star on X:WP. In the third season you will both act in and direct an episode (King of Assassins). Does it make you nervous and can we expect more of this in the future?
No. I've done this for a while now - if anything, it was just a little taxing doing both jobs. I'd like to do more directing, but not both jobs again right away...it was a good experience, though.
4. What is it like to work with Lucy and Reneé?
Both are very accessible, patient and professional. This makes it very easy to work with them both.
5. If any, are there differences between working on the XENA set and the HERCULES set?
Xena used to be referred to as the "little" show - not anymore. Hercs tend to be a little lighter - and Herc has to be the moral center - Xena is a tad darker, but the Xena set doesn't get as serious...
6. Wouldn't you agree that Autolycus is much more suitable to give the audience "comic relief" than Joxer whose humour is - as a lot of people strongly believe - very crude?
No. I couldn't disagree more - Ted was in the ep. I just directed playing both himself and his evil twin - Ted is a ball of talent and this whole "what is really funny" thing is totally subjective.
7. Was it ever considered to create an Autolycus spin-off? Would you agree to be part of it?
A spin-off of that type of character would never happen - he'd have to be artificially warped in order to take over the lead of a show - he's more fun and useful as the likeable rogue.
8. What is the achievement you are proudest of careerwise?
"Brisco." I worked my butt off on that show and enjoyed it immensely.
9. You have made a number of guest appearances (e.g. Xena, Ellen). Is there any other TV show in which you would love to participate?
Not off the top of my head - carreer-wise, I pretty much wing it. Every time I try and plan things out methodically, it all gets de-railed by some project out of the blue.
10. What can fans expect from future Raimi/Campbell projects?
Not sure - we're "sort of" working together on his tv stuff - we'll have to wait and see until our schedules coincide again...
thank you very much bruce

Someone posted this letter on the Hudson List: Re: HUDSON LEICK BOOK: "Hudson was great of course. She was relaxed and not at all like she was at the con. Her appearance and attitude at the con was the way she felt the fans wanted to see her. Though she does curse a lot she is funny and smart. Now this is were I'm sure everyone including myself will disagree with her. She feels she isn't that pretty and doesn't think many men (and women) would love to have her in their living room.
Because this is for a book, we can't disclose the interview details to you. However, I will say that we have gotten information about Hudson that you've NEVER seen or heard anywhere else before. This is all new and exclusive stuff folks. Very exciting as well. And the best part is, because we were having so much fun and kidding around we didn't get around to all the questions we had, we have yet another interview set up with her in Dec. So be prepared for yet more new and cool info on her.
The only thing was she kept yawning and you know how once you hear someone else yawn you have to. It was with all our strength that we stopped ourselves from yawning. Don't get me wrong, Hudson was yawning in the sense that she was bored. Just it was 9am for her. We really can't get into anymore about the interview except that she was fantastic and a good sport about some of the tough and rather personal questions we asked her.
As far as the book itself goes: It is tentatively titled: The Women Of Xena and will include Danielle Cormack, Lucy Lawless, Renee O'Connor, Melinda Clarke, and of course, the one and only, Hudson Leick. Because a lot of the actors and actresses are now filming (as Hudson will be in Nov) we will have to figure on the interviews won't be done until Feb or a little later. We're taking into consideration that we will be attending the con and nitpicking more brains. Also, the book will contain a FANDOM FUN section. This section will include funny and interesting things found on the net from you, the fans. If you have anything original that you'd like us to consider please set it with the subject line reading (all in caps please): FANFUNSUB. LLROCHL@aol.com We're also thinking about adding a short fan fic story in there. So if you have a GREAT story that's 10-20 pages and don't mind us possibly editing some of it for space reasons, please send it with the same FANFUNSUB subject line."
Thanks to Waitangi for letting us know that Hudson Leick has a feat. in Femme Fatales: "In the current December issue of "Femme Fatales" there is a four page article on Hudson Leick titled - Xena vs. Callisto - pg. 40 - 43." Nitefal adds: "Well, after having just experienced the Hudson Leick phenomenon at the VF CON, I had no choice but to buy this latest issue of Femme Fatales (Vol. 6 No. 6 - US$5.99)
Thanks to Debbie-1st Fire(Hudson Leick Official Fan Club Liaison) for posting: A Message From Hudson...(VF Con)!!! "Hudson called this morning and asked that I please relay the following message to everyone. She said that she had a wonderful time at the Valley Forge convention and really enjoyed meeting the various members of the HLOFC. She also said that it was, one of, if not her favorite convention, so far, and that she was just amazed at how warm and giving everyone was. It made her feel really appreciated and she wishes to thank everyone for making her feel so warm and welcome.
She also wants to thank everyone who contributed to the "appreciation letter". Yes, she did read every, single letter and said that she thought they were especially considerate, thought-out and very heartfelt. She wants everyone to know that she was very touched by their messages and that they gave her a very "warm" feeling.
One last thing, for those people who were sorry that they missed Hudson in Sacramento last weekend, at the supposed breakfast she was to be attending. Not to worry, Hudson was *not* there. Just another false rumor that got blown out of proportion. So, nope, no Hudson sighting here... :)
That's about it...Hudson will be gone to New Zealand for the month of November, to film another episode of Xena and take a much needed, and deserved, vacation. She isn't yet sure what her convention schedule will be for next year, but she will let us know just as soon as she finds out."
See the Appreciation Letter that was given to Hudson is at the VF Con.

Also, it has come to Hudson's attention that there has been some speculation about whether, or not, she had done a "Bar None" commercial. Yes, she has! (and was extremely surprised that anyone had even noticed) She says that she has also done a coffee commercial. (she doesn't drink coffee, so she can't remember which brand it was) A Dr. Pepper commercial. And a commercial for an Italian named hair care product, (neither of us could figure out how to spell it, sorry) when she was just 16. The hair care commercial was only shown locally, in the N.Y. area, but if *anyone* can find a copy of any of these commercials Hudson would *really* like to see them. Please let me know. Thanks... If you have any questions please write email me. Debbie-1st Fire email@example.com Hudson Leick Official Fan Club Liaison. Thanks Debbie/1st Fire!!! You are doing a GREAT JOB!!!
Thanks to Melissa Meister we know a little more about 2 of Hudson's other commercials: these commercials are about 10 years old...a commercial for a now defunct, Rochester, NY hair salon "Astetica" located on Monroe Ave.; and a commercial for International Coffee in which Hudson played a ballerina.

At the Universal Chat with Rob: choco123 asks "What are the chances that
Spy Game will be renewed for a 2nd season?" Rob_Tapert says "About as
good as American Gothic coming back. I'd like to say that Spy Game is
another example of a show being on the wrong network. ABC has done
nothing to promote Spy Game."
Linden Ashby played Spy Game ex-agent Lorne Cash, he will be a new doctor in the first new fall episode of Melrose Place! I saw a piece on it on Access Hollywood on June 25. He has somewhat of a new look with blonde hair. I almost wouldn't have recognized him. I guess with this piece of news, it is truly official that Spy Game is no more. Thanks to Sarah for this info: Linden will be playing Dr. Brett "Coop" Cooper and will befriend Michael Mancini. I thought that he was honestly going to reprise his role as Charles Reynolds, Jo's ex-hubby.
Check out The Linden Ashby Worshiping Page !!!
Allison Smith played Spy Game spy expert Max London. She is supposed to be in the movie How to Make an American Quilt shown on STARZ! on Nov. 30(8pm). Also starring Winona Ryder, Ellen Burstyn, Anne Bancroft. <<After her longtime boyfriend proposes, an indecisive graduate student spends the summer listening to stories from her grandmother's sewing circle about love lost and gained.>>
Check out a GREAT web site devoted to Allison Smith !!!
I hope this helps you all!!! Please feel free to write me with any info
not listed, etc. I welcome all the help I can get as it takes me a LONG
time to put these reports together and I might have missed something or
mistyped something!!! I will answer all letters sooner or later.

Thanks go out to Rita for posting Mistopholees' definition of Sword & Staff for the (Encyclopedia Xenaica):
Sword and Staff
(sôrd and staf) Am. (sôd and stif) N.Z. n. "Sword and Staff" is a Xenite alliance whose original purpose was to monitor, track, and document the charitable donations made by Xenite fund raisers. It has since taken on a more active role in organizing the charitable fundraising efforts made by fans in the names Lucy Lawless, Reneé O'Connor, and "Xena: Warrior Princess". Thus far, in 1997, Xenite donations total nearly $25,000. During Lucy Lawless's 9 week run in 'Grease' on Broadway, "Sword and Staff" organized a campaign to have fans send money to "Daytop Village", a drug treatment facility, in lieu of flowers to Lucy. Combined with proceeds from a fan-sponsored auction in Valley Forge, PA, this charity received over $3,800 in donations in the name of "Lucy Lawless and the Cast of Grease". This was Lucy's internet response :
"God bless you all. I'm so thankful to have great fans who care so much for others. I received plenty of flowers the first week, but more than those, I am cheered by all the bouquets I *didn't* get. I'm having a great time and learning a lot. But never fear, Xena is where my heart is. So I'll spot you on the box - a great, challenging season ahead and not just for me. Thanks again.
Check out Sword and Staff for more information!!!
Marener was the LUCKY one who bought lot #4 and got to go back stage to meet LUCY on the historical Oct. 7th show!!! "If you remember back a few weeks, The 11th annual Broadway Flea Market an Grand Auction was held on Sat. Sept. 27th in the Shubert Alley, Sponsored by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids (BC/EFA). The 4th lot up for auction was "Rizzo, The Warrior Princess" and included: meeting Ms Lawless, a photo with her, a backstage tour, tickets to Grease, a poster of LL as Rizzo signed by the cast and dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe.
"The cast of GREASE have made BC/EFA "their charity" and are working to continually raise money for it!!! Although Ms. Lawless is a guest in this country and doing GREASE while on her "holiday" from her work on X:WP, SHE HAS LENT BOTH HER NAME AND HER TIME to raise money for this charity !!! If you can help the cast of GREASE with their fund raising, it would be a wonderful way to say "THANK YOU" to Ms. Lawless for her personal efforts on behalf of this charity. Tax deductable Donations may be made to BC/EFA and mailed to: BC/EFA, ATTN: Mr. Smith, 230 W. 49th St., Eugene O'Neill Theatre, NY, NY 10036
I wanted to tell you all a little bit about the trip I took to Washington D.C. It was through the Service Station Organization. If you have a youth group that would be interested in doing a service project, find out some info at: Service Station .
In D.C. we did A LOT of different things every day to help a variety of people. The main focus was to help the homeless, but we also helped at a Day Camp for kids and picked up trash along a creek/park area. We worked at a Food Bank, Soup Kitchen, and passed out sack lunches to the homeless in the park near the White House. We did A LOT during the week that we were there and you could personally see the results of the hard work that you did. It was a very rewarding experience, one in which I would like to do again!
I would like to say Hi to: Jennie, Jenny, Melissa, Robin, Celio, Dee, Ruth, Karen, Jillian, Debbie, Michelle, and Pastor Brian whom I truly enjoyed getting to know much better over the week!
